We began our January meeting with a quick overview of our activities in December of 2023
“A Star-Spangled Christmas“ – About 40 of us (10% of the audience) attended the Lancaster County EMS performance. Everyone had a good time and if you would like to write a letter to EMS and let them know, they would appreciate it.
Indian Land Republican Christmas party – About 40 people attended our Christmas Party at the Sun City Golf Course and it was very well received. In 2024 we will have it earlier in December to avoid conflicts with holiday schedules.
The Indian Land Christmas Parade – A number of members represented the club in the Indian Land Christmas Parade held at the middle school grounds. Thank you all.
In 2024 we are hoping to get more notice of various events and how to participate.
We are hoping as a club to be even more community active and involved.

SC Election Integrity rally in Columbia
On January 9th, members went to the rally – in spite of bad weather. The rally was held inside the Capital Rotunda. Senator Michael Johnson stopped by to visit our group and thanked us for being involved in issues we are interested in.
Within 48 hours two bills were defeated in the legislature. Maybe the rally helped.
To begin this important election year, we handed out pocket versions of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution and briefly reviewed …
Amendment 10 – regarding powers not delegated to the U.S. Government are left to the states.
Amendment XIV – Section 3 regarding “...insurrection…” and the ability to run for President.
This is due to Colorado and Maine trying to disqualify President Trump for being on their ballots using this clause.
The U.S. Supreme Court will be looking at this shortly.
Guest Speaker – Arthur Hampton – Field Representative – John Birch Society
Topic: Convention of States (COS) which is allowed in the Constitution.
The history of why this was put into the Constitution was discussed as were various concerns of some of the founders if it should ever be needed. Also discussed the prior Convention of States.
There was very thought-provoking information concerning the history and what the public has been told about a COS.
Some think a Convention of States is a Trojan Horse to Overthrow our Constitution, others think we need it to restrain the Federal Government.
Also discussed other options within the Constitution for various issues, including term limits, the states not following Federal Government Mandates.

We are hoping to set up a representative of this view later in the year after the primaries.
South Carolina’s House of Representatives & Senate voted in 2022 to endorse a COS.
It is possible to try an withdraw the state’s endorsement. If enough interest we can address this at a future meeting or you can contact JBS.org and inquire there.
As stated, earlier 2024 will be an Interested and maybe Pivotal year in United States future.
Get Informed and Involved, make up your own mind….that is the goal for the Indian Land. Republicans.uis enim.
